When we got home from gymnastics today, we had balloons flying from our mailbox. I had no idea who they were from and the kids could hardly contain their excitement! I grabbed my camera and sent them off......thank you PawPaw and Lala for our Valentine's, the kids were SUPER excited to get a surprise in the mailbox! Happy Valentine's Day!!

Mia's Big Day!!

Mia was baptised on Sunday......finally! She is my latest baby to get baptised, we normally do it around 6 weeks, so we were major behind! She did beautifully and it was such a precious moment to watch. Her uncle John and aunt Vivian were the Godparents, they too are Reese, Charlie and Joe's Godparents, so it's extra special to have them in our children's lives. Thanks to all who came to be a part of Mia's special day, as Father Bazzel would say, "her soul has been saved!" Hallelujah, Hallelujah!!

It's hard......

My sweet Mia is getting so big, so fast. Once we got home from the cruise I decided it was time to move Mia into her own "big girl crib" in her own big girl room. Let me just say, I am very happy, and I know how fortunate Joe and I are to have a growing, sleeping, healthy baby girl, but it's still hard. I want her to sleep by my bed forever! She, however, hasn't missed a beat. She still sleeps her normal 12 hours just like there's been no change at all, and seems to really love her new bed, but again, it's hard, sniff sniff!

Vacation Time!!!

Joe and I, in tow with all 3 kiddos and my parents, just got back from a Caribbean cruise, and oh my goodness, what a fun trip! Mia got to experience a lot of "firsts", her first plane ride and her first cruise! Reese and Charlie did awesome and enjoyed every minute of their vacation. I'm sad that it is over and Reese and I are already trying to come up with our next "big adventure!!" We went on the Carnival Destiny for 5 nights. We had a great setup, our room connected with mom and dad's room, so we had plenty of space for the kiddos. Reese and Charlie slept in the bunk beds, and Mia slept in a big girl crib (sniff sniff). So many great memories were made, here are a few of them captured on film.....

We had to get a limo to pick us up from the airport......it was the only way we would all fit into one vehicle! The kids thought this was so special!

Once we were in Miami, we spent the night before boarding the ship the next morning. Reese and Charlie had to share a bed at the hotel and this was a first, so I was nervous. They were both so tired, I think I could have made them sleep in the bathtub and they would have gone straight to sleep! They did great -- one small episode of Charlie almost scooting Reese off the bed at 2:30am, but those are minor details and it was corrected swiftly and quietly!!

Joe and dad spent a lot of time playing blackjack! This is actually a family favorite -- at night, after we got the kids asleep, Me, Joe and Dad would go and play for hours! I love blackjack!!

Oho Rios, Jamica

On Monday, we spent the day in Ocho Rios, Jamaica! I have to tell you, although Joe and I had such a good time on our River Tubing excursion, I did not like Jamaica. It was sad seeing how poor the people are there. The roads to get to our excursion were something you would think of in a third world country......very very bumpy and lots and lots of pot holes. When we were climbing the mountain to get to our excursion, in an old beat up van with no air conditioning, there were some parts of the road where everyone in the van would gasp for air and lean to one side of the van because we were so close to the side of the cliff and the roads are so narrow. Once we got to the top where it was set up for river tubing, it was fine, and LOTS of fun. It was so beautiful. We tubed down the White River and you could literally see straight down to the bottom of the river. It was shallow in some parts and very deep in others. I got dumped off my float in one of the rapids and I could not touch, so I know it was deep at that particular point. The water was also very cold......but all in all, a lot of fun!!

Joe had to stop at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville on the way back and they had a water slide in the bar! He had to do it -- so much fun!!

My dad got a bit of a stomach bug the morning we arrived in Jamiaca, so he sat this city out! Once we got back from our excursion, we went and got mom and the kids and went to tour the city a little bit -- again, not my favorite. Lots of pushy people wanting you to buy whatever it is they're selling. We did get the kids an "ice cold coconut" -- not their favorite, but they looked like "islanders!!"

Grand Cayman Islands!

On Tuesday, we spent the day in the Grand Cayman Islands, and oh my goodness, how beautiful! I wanna live there!! We split off from mom and dad and they did the "tourist thing" while Joe and I took the kids to the beach. We called ourselves the "Westin Crashers"......we snuck into the Westin resort and used all their beautiful facilities! Ha! Joe had done a lot of research and found that they had the best pool and beach area, and he was right! The kids were so excited to play and run around in the warm sand. The water was gorgeous and they had big trees planted all along the top of the beach for Mia and I to relax in the shade. We stayed there all day and even ordered lunch to "room 397!" We did pay cash so room 397 wouldn't pick up our lunch bill! This was a fun filled day and it was sad to only have one day there -- we will definitely be going back one day!!

Our Last Day at Sea......

Our last day on the boat was a day at sea. The kids played Bingo, Mini golf and swam a lot! They also did a lot of sleeping. All the kiddos were so tired by Wednesday, it's a lotta work having so much fun!!!

This is the kids after we got off the ship. We were waiting on our limo to come and pick us up. What better way to entertain yourself than build rock piles?!

Such a wonderful family vacation. I cannot wait to do another cruise! Reese asked me this morning, "mommy, when can we go get on another ship?!?!?!" We will sweet girl, we will!!

Mia 4 months!!

My sweet Mia is growing up so so fast. She is 4 months old and perfect. We had her check up today and Dr. W said she looks wonderful. I have said it once, and I will say it again, she is the.best.baby. The best way to sum her up in one word is content. She LOVES to watch Reese and Charlie and will sit and watch them for hours. She sleeps 11-12 hours a night, still nurses like a champ and is becoming more interested in watching us eat! I'm not quite ready to introduce foods yet (I'm putting that off as long as I can), but I know it's just around the corner for her. Here are her stats from her 4mo check up:

Wt: 14.2 lbs (50%)

Ht: 24" (50%)

HC: 16 1/2 (75%)

Reese was playing with Mia last night when I heard her squeal, "quick Mommy, come look!" I rushed to see what was the matter and this is what I found........

Reese said, "look Mommy, Mia has glasses like me!" Ha! Poor baby Mia, although she didn't seem to mind it too much, she was giggling at Reese too much to fuss!! Hang in there Mia, you're going to be big enough to fight these kids off one day sweet girl!!!

Matchbox Cars

My Charlie man is O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D. with cars right now. Any kind of car that is, matchbox cars, remote control cars, the movie Cars, he does not discriminate. I will say, however, his favorite is his little Hot Wheel's/Matchbox cars that he has. He carries them everywhere, and always asks to bring one with him in the car. Joe took notice and casually mentioned he thought he had his Matchbox cars from when he was a boy, "somewhere" in our house. I love anything vintage, so I was super excited. When we explained to Charlie what we were sending he and his dad on a "big adventure" to look for, he became super excited! It wasn't long after that I heard little feet and the rattling of cars heading up the stairs from the basement. Joe had found them and boy was my Charlie happy. He sat and played with those cars until we MADE him take a shower and get ready for bed. I hope he takes care of these cars, they are so special. I already told Joe I'm putting them up when his friends come over because I don't want them to get messed up! Ha!

Reese's First Haircut

So Reese just had her first haircut!!!! I know, I know, she's 4 year's old! Reese has always had fine hair and it's super curly, so until recently, it's really not been terribly noticeable that it even needed to be cut. Not to mention that she has been fighting me tooth and nail on even going to the salon. She was HORRIFIED that if we cut it, her hair would turn brown and never grow again (for those of you who haven't watched Tangled, that is what happened to Rapunzel's hair and Reese was sure it would happen to hers!!). After much persuasion, I convinced Reese that it would most definitely grow back, and it would look even more beautiful than it already is, soooooo, she went!! She did great and it looks beautiful! It didn't take long at all and now it's even and looks healthy! She's already asking when we can go back, so I'm assuming she had a good time......little diva!!

National Championship in New Orleans!

It is so great to be a BAMA fan! Joe and I went to the Championship game with Jennie and Ingram last Sunday night and oh.my.gosh. -- one of the most fun trips I've ever been on! We decided to break up the trip and little and stay in Biloxi on Sunday night. We met up with Billy and Shanna and gambled and ate until the wee hours of the morning at the Beau Rivage -- so much fun! Then, bright and early (as in like 9am!), we headed over to New Orleans. We met up with Paul and Rachel and then the girls went shopping at Orient Expressed (one of my favorite stores, but I have to admit, this time, the store was a little bit of a let-down. Boo.) We then met up with the boys and did all the great things you're supposed to do while in New Orleans. The boys just HAD to go to Cat's Meow and sing karaoke and we had a wonderful lunch at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse -- yummy! We headed into the game around 6pm and the rest is history. It worked out so well with our seats, Jennie and Ingram were 6 rows in front of us, so it was as if we were there sitting together. I thought Joe and Ingram were going to have a heart attack when we won!! After the game was over, we went BACK to the Cat's Meow (do you see a pattern here.......these boys are OBSESSED with that place!), and that's where we stayed for the rest of the night. It was such a fun trip and I was sooooooo glad to get home to my babies. I missed them terribly. Thank you Mom and Dad for keeping Mia, and Gigi for keeping Reese and Charlie. We would not have been able to go on this wonderful trip without y'alls help!! I hope we get to go to the Championship game next year -- that's 2 out of 3 for Joe and I, and boy are they fun! It's a long shot, but next year in Miami sure would be fun!!! Roooooooooooollllll Tide!!

Cookie Swap!

Today was such a fun day for Charlie. A group of his friends from school had a cookie swap/play date and it was so much fun!!! Poor Charlie is surrounded by girls almost all the time (although I'm beginning to think he likes it that way!) so we jumped on the chance to have a day with his buddies. The kids had so much fun! They got to play with play-doh, decorate cookies and ride lots of tractors and dump trucks in the yard! All in all, a perfect day for my little man!!!

Ice Skating

Joe and the kiddos have found a new love -- ice skating! They've been 2 times this week and it's only Wednesday!! Joe has enjoyed the kids being out of school as much as they have and any excuse to get them out and get them moving, he'll jump on!! I only have pictures from the 2nd day because Mia and I stayed home the first time they went. Reese has caught on rather quickly and can actually skate by herself -- Charlie man still needs a little help, but he is catching on fast!

Bike Ride

The weather here has been GORGEOUS! We have taken full advantage and stayed outside most all weekend.....it's not every December you have upper 60 degree weather to play in!! The kids love to ride their bikes, it's one of their favorites and they ride almost every day. On Friday we went on a "big adventure" as they like to call it, to a local bike trail. Joe ran with Mia in the jogger and the kids and I rode our bikes. So much fun!!! I'm already ready for spring!!!

It really is hard to believe Mia is already 3mo old. She's still such a GOOD baby. She sleeps 11-12 hours a night (thank you Lord!), still eats every 3 hours, and has learned to laugh, which is my new favorite thing in life!! Christmas morning was a hit for her -- she sat and watched all the chaos of Reese and Charlie, never making a peep, just watching. She loves to be rocked and held, but will also just sit and be content on her own. I really can't imagine life without her -- it's as if she's always been here! Love, love, love my sweet baby girl!!

Merry Merry Christmas!!

Christmas morning was so much fun this year. I didn't get a lot of pictures, which makes me sad, but it's hard to enjoy all the madness and oooh and aaahhh at all the gifts AND take pictures. I need someone to follow me around and take pictures ALL the time! Anyways, the kids had a great Christmas morning, filled with more toys than they could ever play with. They were both so happy and have still not played with everything they got!! We had all the family over to watch them open Santa and then we had a yummy breakfast. Sad it's over but glad at the same time......Christmas this year was crazy busy and I'm ready to settle down a bit! Merry Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas night we always go to PawPaw and LaLa's house for MORE gifts! Aunt Vivian and Uncle John were able to join us this year which always makes for a good time. Again, I didn't get many pics, in fact I only got 2.......sniff sniff. It's crazy with 3 kiddos, I've gotta get better at my picture taking skills!!

Every Christmas Eve, Joe and I swap gifts before starting our B.U.S.Y. day of going from one place to another. This year, Joe and I didn't do much unwrapping, even of our own gifts, Reese and Charlie were designated un-wrappers the entire Christmas season!! Joe got some new clothes and a new Ipod and I got some boots, a necklace, a couple of Willow Tree's and a HUGE canvas print for my fireplace. L.O.V.E.!!!!

Happy Birthday Mimi!!!

The kids and I celebrated all day with Mimi today -- I love that we got to spend the entire day with her on her birthday. We met the "whole gang" out for dinner tonight and had a blast. Mimi and Poppa had to go to a basketball game, so it wasn't the usual go and open presents and eat cake at some one's house party, it was a sprawl out in the restaurant kind of party and we sure left our mark! There was wrapping paper and bows everywhere when we left!! Reese and Charlie helped Mimi open all her gifts and loved every bite of her cookie cake. Jenn's Puppies

I took the kids to see my friend Jennifer's puppies today and OH.MY.GOODNESS. they are cute! It was so hard not to just walk right out with one, but I think I already have my hands full, and since I have 2 dogs of my own already, I think we're good for now! Reese and Charlie LOVED holding and playing with all 10 of the blonde furballs. The puppies were so tolerant with the kids picking them up and playing with them. I know they slept good when we left! Reese has asked me 100 times when we're going back to "hold the puppies"......we'll have to go back before they're old enough to find their forever homes. Christmas time is so much fun!! Kate and Adelaide came over this afternoon to swap Christmas gifts and have a little "playdate!" This is the second year we have let the kiddos swap gifts and they get more excited each year. We only get small gifts to exchange, nothing too exciting, but they love every minute of it. I think we could wrap just about anything and they would have fun opening it!! Such sweet sweet friends!! Christmas Day is OH SO CLOSE!!!

Christmas Program

Joe and I have decided we have quite the little performer on our hands!! Reese had her 3K Christmas Program this morning and she was ALL INTO IT! It was precious. She knew all the songs and hand motions and waved and smiled almost the entire time she was up there! You could tell she was really having a good time and that makes my heart smile! After her play we were invited back to her room for cookies and punch! She is out of school until the new year so we've got lots of "playtime" ahead! We could not be more proud sweet Reese! This was our 2nd year to have the kiddos a cookie decorating party at Adelaide's house. It was a LOT of fun this year and included a lot more friends. Dance Preview!

Reese had her Dance Preview day yesterday. All I can say is, this girl loves to dance! My little diva was all into the dance moves and showing us what she has learned so far. Her recital is in May, I cannot wait to see her up on stage again, it's such a fun event! Way to go little diva, you keep on shaking that bootie! You are the cutest tiny dancer around!!!

Charlie had his Christmas Party at school today and it was so cute! They had lots of games to play and lots of yummy treats to eat.....he has the cutest little class! He brought home lots of Christmas crafts they had made at school and a special gift for mommy!!! Hard to believe it's almost Christmas time!!!!!

Will, the kiddos elf, brought Christmas crafts for them to do and they were SO. EXCITED. Mommy doesn't do crafts, (that's why I send them to school!), so to say they were overjoyed when they got to make a HUGE mess in the kitchen is putting it lightly. Bass Pro Shop

Joe and I met Mimi and Poppa at the Bass Pro Shop last night to get the kids picture made with Santa. We always love going, there are LOTS of things for the kiddos to see and play with and it's an added bonus that Joe and Dad love the store and can keep content while we wait in line! Although the pic is not my favorite, it's a memory and will have to do for now. I'm going to try and take the kids to the mall to have one more picture taken with Santa, but we'll see if that plays out.....it's a big deal to get all these kiddos dressed up and out to see Santa!

First "Real" Playdate

So yesterday was a little bit of a sad day for me. Reese was invited to her first "REAL" playdate, you know, the kind where I DROP HER OFF???!!!? We've had plenty a playdates, I've just been to each one with her! It was such a big deal for me to drop her off for some reason. I guess I'm just not ready for her to be so big and so ready to go places without me. She, however, could not quit talking about it and we counted down the days all week until, "is today the day to go to Campbell's house?!?!" came. Campbell's mom sent me an email earlier in the week to ask if Reese could come play on Saturday. I asked Reese if she wanted to go andfrom that point on, it's all she could talk about! I was a little nervous she may wanna leave early, but I was oh so wrong! I dropped her off at 10:30 and picked her up at 2:30, so she wasn't gone an incredibly long time, but I was really excited to pick her up! She did wonderfully and played very well. She is already talking about having another playdate, so we'll see......maybe this is a start to something?!?!?! Thank you Campbell for having Reese over to play, she had a ball!!

CBS Christmas Program

This is my second year to do CBS (Community Bible Study). Last year, I wasn't able to get the kids into the program, but this year, Reese, Charlie, Mia and I all have a spot! It is one of the greatest programs -- it's great for me and it's great for the kids, they have learned SO much about the Bible and we're only half way through the year. This past week was their Christmas program and the kiddos did great. Reese was as animated as usual and sang and did all the hand motions to EVERY song! Charlie was a little less amused and quietly sat and watched as everyone around him sang! He is not shy at all, but he sure acted like he was during this Christmas program! Joe, Mimi and Gigi all came to watch, which made the kids even happier. Good job Reese and Charlie!! So glad you guys are learning the real meaning of CHRISTmas!!

Mia is 2 months old!

My sweet Mia, how are you already 2mo old? Time is flying by right before my very eyes and you are getting chunkier and chunkier by the minute!! You are THE SWEETEST baby alive. You never cry, and I say never, you only grunt and fidgit when you are hungry or need a diaper change. You love to smile at your mommy, daddy and especially like it when Reese and Charlie talk to you. You nurse like a champ (as you can see by the chunky thighs!), sleep through the night and roll with the punches better than I ever thought a baby could. You have brought such joy to our little family -- it's hard to imagine that you weren't always here before now! You had your 2mo check up on Monday and you are healthy as can be! Both Reese and Charlie decided this weekend that it was time for the bed rails to come off their beds. Reese had been talking about taking them off for some time, and if Reese does something, you can count on Charlie doing the same. So far, no "roll outs" yet, but I know the time is coming. I love the crafts that the kids make in school, I don't take enough pictures of them. They bring something home almost every day. These Fall Crafts were especially cute, so they had to show them off! Charlie's "what I'm thankful for" cracks me up. Love that boy! Reese made me a piece that I will have forever. She was so excited to give it to me!

Both Reese and Charlie have always been good sleepers, one of God's greatest gifts to me! I was hoping Mia would follow suit, and she has done just that. Little girl has beefed up nicely (we now call her Chunky Monkey!) and she has been sleeping through the night for about 2 weeks now (since she was almost 6wks old).......whoooooo hooooo! She usually goes to bed around 9:30 or 10pm and sleeps until sometime between 5:30 and 7:30am. It's so nice to sleep through the night again, I feel like a new woman! Mia has her 2mo check up next Monday, so I will update more then. Love you sweet girl!!!

Charlie's First Alabama Game!!

Joe took Charlie to his first Bama game this past weekend. I have to first say, I'm really impressed Joe remembered to take me a few pics. Although I would have taken LOTS more, I have to be happy with what I've got! =)

The guys went down with Paul and Philip and they had a blast. Joe said Charlie sat and watched the game the entire time. They sat in "the Zone" so it was nice for the boys to be able to go and get snacks and drinks when they wanted. Roll Tide good buddy, so glad you got to experience your first of MANY MANY Bama games!!!!

Cupcakes for Reese

Since Reese's Birthday was on a Saturday this year, and their school was closed on Friday for Veteran's Day, Reese's teacher asked me to bring cupcakes for Reese on Monday. Joe went and picked them up for us first thing this morning and Reese was so excited! Each cupcake had a princess ring on it -- what could be better?!!??!! We are now officially done with celebrating her birthday -- it's been a long 2 weeks!!

Happy 4th Birthday Reese!

Today we celebrated Reese's 4th Birthday! Hard to believe she is already 4 years old.....sniff, sniff. I swear just yesterday I was holding her in my arms and she was as small as Mia. Where oh where has the time gone?? Miss Sassy Pants wanted to go and eat at her favorite restaurant and then have everyone over for brownie sundaes (time to take a break from all the Birthday cake!) We did just that and then she got to open LOTS of presents. She helped everyone make their sundaes and then played with all her new toys until we made her go to bed. She had such a great day and thank you to everyone for all her presents. Reese Lynn -- we are so proud of you and love you so much. Happy Birthday sweet angel -- no matter how old you are, you're always going to be my little lovebug!!

My Babies

For 2 weeks every year, my babies are the same age. Yesterday was the last day I had two 3 year olds. It's hard to believe how fast these kiddos are growing. Time is moving so so fast. Reese and Charlie, Mommy and Daddy love you very much and are so proud of you! I could not imagine life being any different, and although some people think we are crazy to have had you guys so close, I would do it ALL OVER AGAIN! I love you two more than you will ever know!!

Halloween 2011

I'll be honest, Halloween is not my favorite holiday. In fact, I really wouldn't mind skipping it, but the kids would have a heart attack. They were so excited this year and really got into their costumes and getting dressed up! Charlie was a SWAT man and Reese was Rapunzel. Mom, Dad and Kristen came over and we ate and then went trick or treating. Mom stayed home with Mia and passed out candy, which was extremely helpful (thanks Mom!!). Charlie only went to a few houses this year, but Reese was in for the long haul. She went all over and got tons of candy! We'll be eating Halloween candy for months!!

Tannehill for Charlie's Birthday

On Saturday, we took the kiddos to Tannehill for Charlie's birthday. Hope and Chad have a camper set up, and the park is all decorated for Halloween and everyone goes trick or treating. I have never seen so many Halloween decoration's in my life!! We got Charlie a new bicycle for his birthday, so he was super excited to take it to the park and ride around. Mimi made Charlie cupcakes and we had a little party at the campsite. Later that evening we came home and had another party for Charlie with his requested cake -- Toy Story! He got lots of fun gifts and I'm just about Birthday cake'd out!!!

Parents weren't "invited" to Reese's party (don't even get me started), so I only have a few pics of her trick or treating. Can't believe my sweet baby is 1 month old today. Mia had her 1mo check up today and she looks great. She had to get a shot (boo) but she was a champ and only cried for a minute. Here are her stats:

She is a precious baby and seems to be really laid back. She is really good about "going with the flow," which is a good thing since we're ALWAYS on the go! Reese and Charlie still adore her and are really good with her, always wanting to know exactly where she is and smoother her with kisses!! Mommy loves you little lovebug!!

Pumpkin Patch

Last Thursday we took the kiddos to the Pumpkin Patch. Joe and I had hoped for perfect weather, and although the day was beautiful, it was quite nippy outside. Poor Mia stayed bundled up in her car seat the entire trip! Reese and Charlie had a blast -- they rode ponies, jumped on jump a roo's, rode a tractor, played on the haystack and rode the hayride out to the "patch" to pick out their pumpkins. They were so excited to get to pick out their very own pumpkin -- not sure why, but that was a very big deal this year!

Mia's New Chair

Gigi got Mia a new chair and I think she loves it! Ha! I had to squish her little self into the chair on her belly so I could one day remember how small she still is! I had to take her to the doctor this morning because her umbilical cord was oozy and had not fallen off yet. Dr. W. cauterized it and it's now off! Yayyyy! In just a few days, when her belly button has scarred over, we can take an actual tub bath, hoooooorayyy!! We weighed her and she is now 8lbs 5oz! I was so relieved to see she was gaining as she should. She is still doing great and actually letting me sleep -- which is such a relief. Love you sweet Mia!!

Mia 1 week old!!

I can't believe a week has already passed. Time is flying by right before my very eyes. My sweet Mia is one week old and still doing wonderful. We went to the doctor today and she is back up to her birth weight at 7lbs 7oz. Dr. W. said she she looks great and we don't have to go back until she is 1mo old! Mia had her newborn pictures this past Saturday and she did SO GOOD. I cannot wait to post the pictures -- they are so, so pretty!

Mia is Here!

So I'm a little behind on blogging these days, not very much if any, free time around this household lately! Mia is doing so good -- we are all adjusting nicely and the kids LOVE her. She has been such a blessing to our little family! Here is her birth story:

We went in to be induced on Monday morning at 5am. We were shown to our room (it was awesome!) and then my sweet, sweet nurse came to get everything going. Mrs. Karen was a dream nurse and I loved every minute of her! She got my IV on the first stick and knew just how to coach me through labor. By 5:30am, my IV had been started and my water had been broke. Dr. P decided that we would start Pitocin at a very low level and see how I progressed. Having a VBAC is something that I have wanted ever since I found out I was pregnant. Charlie was an emergency c-section for face presentation and I wanted NOTHING to do with another c-section. Dr. P was very weary of the VBAC, but agreed to let me try! As soon as the Pitocin was started and bumped up very, very slowly, my body knew just what to do. I got my epidural around 9:30 when I was around 4cm. By 10:30 I was 10cm and it was time to push! I pushed for about 15minutes, about 5 pushes, and baby Mia was here! Everything went so well and Mia was perfect! She weighed in at 7lbs 7oz and was 20in long. She was born at 11:02 and came out kicking and screaming. The first thing I thought when I saw her was, "oh my goodness, you look just like Charlie!" She and Charlie share the same juicy lips and they favor a lot! We had lots of guests come and visit and Mia got lots of flowers, balloons and pretty gifts. She was surrounded by friends and family her entire hospital stay. We got to come home on Wednesday morning and she did great on her first car-ride home. She has adapted very well to all the loud noises of our house!! She is nursing great and for the most part, sleeping well for a newborn! Lots and lots of pics ahead!!!

Mia brought gifts home with her for Reese and Charlie -- it was a sure fire way the kids would welcome her into our home!! =)

Busy Busy

So I just realized it's been over 2 weeks since I last updated the blog (that has to be a record for me) -- that's just a little hint of how busy things have been around here. Between the kids school, gymnastics, dance, Bible study and trying to prepare for baby Mia, we have been on the run CONSTANTLY here lately. I'm ready to slow down a bit and it's a good thing, because unless baby Mia decides to come on her own, I'll be induced Monday morning at 5am! It's bittersweet for me -- I'm SO ready to not be pregnant anymore, but I don't wanna wish it away because I realize it may be my last. It's been so hard this pregnancy trying to keep up with both kids all the while, grow another human!! I've been exhausted and Joe says I complain a lot -- he is so ready to meet this sweet baby! I have not been taking as many pictures as I normally would -- mostly because I do good to get myself and the kiddos out the door dressed and fed -- much less have a camera in my hand. Once Mia arrives, I plan on being "super picture taker Mommy" again. I will be admitted Monday morning at 5am and will try to update the blog soon. Please pray for a smooth, easy delivery and a healthy mommy and baby!!! Lastly, Joe's cousin was in town this week, and we decided to take the kids fishing. It's become sort of a tradition and the kids love it. Reese was the only one to catch a fish and she was so so proud! I must say I was proud of her too!

Charlie caught wind that Reese had gotten a new backpack for school. Reese, like I posted earlier, moved up to 3K, so therefore, her teachers requested she bring a "large" backpack to school, rather the one we used last year, which, by the way, was in perfect condition. Charlie's backpack was also in perfect condition, leading me to believe it's perfectly fine to use another year. Nope, not ok with Charlie. He wanted a new backpack "like Reese has".......so what did I end up doing while he was at school Monday? Go backpack shopping. Little stinker.

First Day of School 2011

Today was a very exciting day for us! Reese started 3K and Charlie moved up to the "Teddy Bear" room. They were both so excited and ready to get to school this morning! Reese had to be dropped off in the carpool line for the FIRST TIME EVER and she did so, so good. No tears from her, lots from her momma. I don't know why it was so sad for me to watch her walk into the school by herself -- she is growing up so fast and is so ready to take on this world. Bittersweet. Then, Charlie and I went to his room (I still get to walk him in, thank the LORD!!), and he went right in and started playing. When I left, it was so quiet and a little lonely -- I think I've gotten so used to having them around all summer, it's going to take some time to get used to peace and quiet 3 days a week!! Not for long though......won't be long before I have a newborn! Reese and Charlie, I am so proud of you guys -- you did wonderfully on your first day today and you couldn't make me more proud!! I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH!!!!!!

You gotta have a celebratory cookie for such a super first day!

Heart Check-Up

We had Reese's heart re-check today and according to Dr. R, everything looks PERFECT! Praise the Lord! Reese has done remarkably well since the surgery and according to him, the device is sitting beautifully, right where it's supposed to! Reese did wonderful today -- she had to get an EKG, an X-ray, and an ECHO and not one bit of fussing came out of her mouth! Mimi went with us because Joe was out of town -- after Reese's appointment, Mimi took her to get an Icee for being so good. We don't have to go back to see Dr. R for a year! Reese will continue to take a baby aspirin for a year, but other than that, we can resume normal activities! Hooray! So so glad this is behind us and all is well. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers -- we are so blessed to have a healthy baby girl with a strong beating healthy heart!!

Back to Dance!!

Today was a very busy day for our crew. Aside from meeting our new teachers this morning, today was also Reese's first day back at dance. This tiny ballerina was SO EXCITED. She has talked about dance all summer and could not wait to get back. She is very excited that she gets to learn TWO dances this year and have TWO performances at her recital. It's safe to say she loves to dance -- I think it's by far her favorite past time!

Meet the Teacher Day

Today we got to go to the kiddos school and meet their teachers for the new school year. Both of them have really cute classes! Reese starts 3K and has to be dropped off in carpool line -- that will be a first for us, so we'll see how that goes. Charlie ended up in class with all his buddies from last year, so that brought a sigh of relief. He is a bit uneasy about going back -- I think he's gotten used to being with me ALL summer long -- hope the first day proves to be a good one!!! How did they grow up this fast? I swear time is flying by right before my very eyes.

Potty Trained!!

I was a little hesitant to post this last week out of pure fear that I would jinx this entire potty training deal, but I think it's safe to say now, "we're officially potty trained!!!!" Yipppeeeee! Charlie has not had any accidents in 2 weeks now, so I thinks it's a done deal. It was such an easy process and he has done so good. I really wanted to get him out of diapers before Mia's arrival and before he went back to school, so now, my wish is granted!! It's a little sad that I now have 2 "big kids" that don't need diapers and can go to the potty all on their own, good thing little Mia will be here soon......gotta get my baby fix!! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you Charlie -- you are such a big boy!!

Gymnastics!!

The kids started Gymnastics yesterday and they had a B.L.A.S.T!!! The facility they are taking at is amazing -- I don't think a child could ever grow bored there! They did all kinds of things from balance beam, the bars, an obstacle course and a giant trampoline and foam pit (by far their favorite!!) I am so looking forward to watching them learn and grow from this -- such a good energy outlet for us!!!

Happy Birthday Emma Claire!!

On Saturday, Reese and I were invited to a precious, precious birthday party. Hands down, the neatest birthday party we've been too. Emma Claire turned 5 and she had a small little group of girls join her at Tea Party Castle for a royal birthday experience! Reese has gone on and on about this party since we walked out the door!! When we arrived, each girl was taken to a dressing area where her hair was done and then they were put into a princess dress of their choice. Reese's favorite part was the tiara and the glitter! They had a royal tea party, sang songs, danced and got to have a fashion show. It seriously was every little girls dream party. Reese told me when we were leaving that she wanted to have her party there this year and how much longer did she have to wait?!?!! Little does she know, Mommy and Daddy already have her and Charlie a party planned together -- and it's not at a princess castle (Charlie would DIE!!) I told her next year, we could do her 5 year old party there -- this worked for now, but we'll see how long it lasts!!!

New Ballet Shoes!

Reese starts her 2nd year of dance this Wednesday and her foot had WAY out grown her tap and ballet shoes. She had jumped 2 sizes in both pairs.....whoa! Last week, Allison and I took the girls to get new ones. Honestly, without hesitation, dance is one of Reese's favorite things to do. She talks about it constantly, dances around all day, and has a new found hobby. I got her a DVD called baby ballet that teaches a few dance routines/moves. She did the DVD twice yesterday, fully dressed in her leotard! Joe and I will just sit and watch her -- brings such a smile to my face! Keep on doing what your doing twinkle toes -- you're the cutest little ballerina I know!!

One Week Later......

Update on Reese! She is doing wonderfully! The hardest part of this entire process has been trying to get her to "take it easy!" She hasn't missed a beat all week. It's hard to believe just 7 days ago she had heart surgery.....so so blessed!

Reese's Big Day

Thursday, August 4th, 2011, is a day that I would like to say is behind me. No more looming heart surgeries in our future, no more waiting, it's over.....and Reese did beautifully. We were at the hospital bright and early on Thursday morning -- we had to be at the admitting office at 7am. Reese had not eaten since 9pm the night before, but she woke up rather chipper and didn't seem to mind that she didn't have breakfast of juice before leaving the house. My parents met us there and between all of us, we kept her distracted very nicely. We explained to her on the way to the hospital that we were going to take pictures of her beautiful heart and that she was going to have lots of guests and get lots of goodies. She was content with this explanation, so we didn't go into it any further. We were put into a room rather quickly, and the revolving door of hospital personnel began to come and see our sweet girl. Reese was to be the 2nd heart surgery of the morning (wish we could have been the first and gotten it over with), she was scheduled to go back around 10:30 or 11am, and after talking to the nurse anesthetist and our heart surgeon, that plan seemed pretty solid. Around 10:30, we got a call in our room that the first heart surgery was going to take WAY longer than they had anticipated, so let Reese have some juice and keep her as content as possible. By this time, we had LOTS of visitors. Between friends and family, the time really did go by quickly, although, it wasn't until 2:30pm that they actually came to get her. It was also up until this point that I held my self together very nicely. No crying, no moping, just visiting with friends and playing with Reese. When her nurse walked in with a syringe of Versed, that's when it hit me, it was time. Right behind her was the transport team, and that was all it took to send me over. I did not let Reese see me get upset, and by this time, she had already taken her Versed and was beginning to get "loopy" and talk crazy. Joe managed to keep her distracted and actually carried her to the OR doors. This was the hardest part by far. She never cried, never got upset, never even let out a whimper, but it was so hard to send her off without us. The transport team was awesome, they know exactly what they're doing and whisked her away with no hesitation. We watched her go and then waited for the next 2 and a half hours for her to return. Once we got the call that she was in recovery and had done beautifully, it was as if the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders. I could breathe again. I couldn't wait to see her. We had to wait about 30 minutes before they would let us back into the recovery area --they finally called our names and I think I RAN to the door! She was so pitiful looking. There's nothing like seeing your baby hooked up to oxygen, monitors beeping constantly and connected to more tubes than you can count. She was VERY out of it and woke up agitated and confused. Joe and I talked to her and held her hands, and slowly she began to wake up. It wasn't long before they took us back to our room -- still lots of visitors waiting on us there!!

Reese got more presents than you can imagine -- it reminded me somewhat of Christmas morning!!

Her Bravery Beads -- the nurse gave these to her when we checked in. She loved them and they have been re-strung over and over and over!!!

I didn't take any pics of her in recovery, mostly because I don't want to ever see her like that again. Once we got back to our room, she was still very upset and confused. She had to lay flat for 6 hours and that was a chore all on it's own. My poor sweet baby.

After a LONG nap, and some of the anesthesia had worn off, we were ready for some chocolate pudding......yummy!!

At 10pm Thursday night, they made her get up and walk a lap around the unit. She was less than thrilled, but actually did really well. We made a very slow lap and then came back to the room and had chocolate ice cream! This always makes for a happy Reese!!!

The next morning, Dr. M's nurse came in and did an echo cardiogram to make sure everything looked ok. Reese was very cooperative and did just as she should. The device (a septal occulder) was in place perfectly and everything looked great!! Another wonderful blessing!!

After her echo, she wanted pancakes for breakfast! She ate all her breakfast and was in such a good mood!

Reese must have gotten 15 balloons during her hospital stay. The saddest part -- we left them all at the hospital when we left. Reese was not happy about this when she found out =(

We are outta here!! Reese would not be transported out in a wheelchair. She wanted to walk like a big girl! Joe ended up carrying her most of the way!

When we got home, we were so surprised to see our front door all decorated!!! Reese's friends from school did this for her -- seriously one of the sweetest things ever!

More presents!!

Thank you so much to everyone that came to sit with us at the hospital, sent flowers or gifts, or simply prayed for our sweet girl. You have no idea how much it all means to Joe and I. We definitely could not have gotten through all this without the help and support of all our friends and family. Reese is doing so well. We go back to the hospital on August 19th for another echo cardiogram and an xray. She has not missed a beat during this entire process. The hardest part about the recovery is making her "take it easy" as the cardiologist would say. Kids are so resilient -- it's amazing. Reese, we are so glad this is behind us and you are doing so well -- we love you so so much sweet angel!!!

We are Home!!

Just a quick update -- we are home and Reese did wonderful. She was such a trooper and is home resting now. Thank you all so much for your kind words and prayers -- it means so much to Joe and I! I will post pics and more info later, but as you can imagine, it's pretty crazy right now trying to get back in the swing of things. Thank you again!!!!

Prayer's Please!

Well, tomorrow is our big day, Reese's heart surgery. This day has loomed over my head for almost 2 years now and I'm so ready to put it behind me. I'm ready to not think about it anymore, to not talk about it anymore, to say "my sweet girl is as healthy as can be" and mean it. Although looking at her you would never know, her little heart has a 14mm hole in it that needs repair. Tomorrow, at 7am, we have to be at the hospital. She is the 2nd case (dangit), so she will probably not actually go into surgery until around 10 or 11am, which is going to be hard because she can have nothing to eat after midnight tonight. She is still oblivious to all that will take place tomorrow. Joe and I decided it's best to make this out to be as LITTLE of a deal as possible. When we wake her up in the morning, we will tell her we are going to take some pictures of her beautiful heart (she is not afraid of the echo cardiograms at all), and that she is going to get lots of presents and goodies when she is all done. She is still 3, so it's not hard to be vague with her. Please, please say a prayer for my sweet Reese. Please pray that I can be strong for her. She should not get upset at all, once we get to the hospital and get admitted, they will give her a liquid sedative that is supposed to make her loopy and carefree. They will not even start her IV until she is back in the OR and asleep. I'm so happy for that. I pray that I can be strong for her and hold it together when it's time for that "see you in a little bit" moment. I cry thinking about it, I'm crying writing about it, I'm a mess. I will post updates when I can, she has to spend one night in the hospital if all goes as planned, so hopefully we will be home early afternoon Friday.

Charlie's First Dentist Visit!!

We've had a lot of new experiences for Charlie man here lately, big boy bed, potty training, now his first dentist visit. He was SO anxious about going, despite Reese's repeated attempts at telling him, "it's no big deal buddy!" Charlie wanted her to go first so he could watch, and then he quickly caught on that it indeed, was no big deal. He did wonderfully. He sat in his chair like a big boy and did exactly as he was told. No tears, but lots of squeals of delight when it was all finished!! After getting all clean, they got to go to the treasure tower (our favorite!) and they both got new bouncy balls. They also got to pick out a new toothbrush and left with more stickers than I think we should have! We finished the visit off with a sugar free lollipop and lots of smiles! Way to go Charlie -- such a big big boy!!!!

My Big Big Boy!!!

Joe and I decided that we think, and I say "think" very lightly, that Charlie is ready to be potty trained. He is waking up with dry diapers in the morning and wanting more and more to be a "big boy" and tee tee in the potty. Today has been our first real attempt at the entire process and it's been SO EASY with him! He loves his Toy Story big boy undies and get's so excited when he actually "goes" in the potty. We even ventured out for lunch today and he had no accidents. I hope we can keep this up......sure would be nice to have him outta diapers before Mia get's here!!!

Charlie's First Movie!!

Today, on this VERY hot Saturday, we decided to make it a movie day and take Charlie man to his first ever movie! We saw Winnie the Pooh (the kids loved it, Joe and I fell asleep!), and the kiddos giggled throughout the entire thing. I was a little skeptical on how Charlie would do, but he did perfect. He sat through the entire movie and ate his popcorn like a champ! Hope you had fun little buddy!!!

Gymnastics Camp

This week, Reese is in Gymnastics Camp and is loving every minute of it! She's liking it so much, we decided to go ahead and sign up for the fall -- and even Charlie can participate by then! The facility is awesome, it looks like something you would see on the Olympics, and I'm so excited Reese is enjoying it. It's hard to tell Charlie everyday he can't stay and play (you have to be 3 and potty trained to go to camp -- we're neither yet!!), so Charlie is getting a lot of one on one with mommy this week!! Reese wanted a picture this morning of her in her "sparkly" gymsuit! Happy Tumbling sweet girl!!

Beach Trip!!!

Last week, Jennifer and I took just us and the kiddos to the beach! We had such a good time, were super busy the entire trip, ate lots of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the beach, had some great seafood every night and Reese and Charlie got to experience their first "slumber party" with friends!! The kids went non stop the entire week. Charlie managed to go every day without a nap and would stay up until 10:30 or 11pm every night. He was a real trooper. Such a wonderful "girls trip" for me and Jenn. Even though I was exhausted by the time we got home, it was worth it -- we had so much fun Jenn!! Love you lots!!

Who's the Biggest Boy in Town?????

Charlie is!!!! We are SO proud of our little man -- he poo poo'd in the potty today for the first time ever! Yipppppeeeeeeee!! We have LOTS of work to do in the potty department, but every little bit of progress counts!! Hooray Charlie! Getting to be such a big boy!!!!

Happy 4th of July!!!

4th of July at the Lake is the best. We spent the entire day on the lake and at the pool. Joe bought a few fireworks for the kiddos to play with and then we watched the "mother of all firework shows" from the boat! Love fireworks on the water -- so pretty!!!

Last week, we spent the entire week at the Lake -- it was wonderful! No schedule, no worries, nothing but a lot of family time and good memories!!! Thank you Pawpaw and Lala for having us.....we had a blast!!!
